So here are some tips to help you travel with confidence:

Take the time to thoroughly review your host
Look at the profiles and reviews of potential hosts before you book, and check for verified phone numbers, connected social networks, and references. If you’d like to see more, you can always ask them to complete profile verifications before booking with them, or search for another host who has a strong reputation on

It’s also a good idea to read everything the host has posted about their listing in the description, the amenities, and the house rules so there won’t be any surprises. Make sure you understand the host’s house rules and any cancellation policy before submitting a reservation.

Pay and communicate on
Paying or communicating outside our system makes it harder for us to protect your information and puts you at greater risk of fraud and other security issues. That’s why we prohibit making a reservation outside our system or directly with the host. View our Terms & Conditions for more details.

Use our inquiry system before a booking to confirm details about your stay and any other questions you may have before and after your booking.

Set clear expectations
After learning more about your host’s history, start a conversation with them about your plans and what you can expect. Your host will likely know all the great and safe places to visit, but remember to trust your intuition. If you don’t feel right about a reservation, do not book it or feel free to contact us .

Research the location of your stay
Prior to your arrival, it is good to research the location of your stay to ensure it is in a safe neighborhood. Crime statistics for places throughout the world are available online. A simple Google search or even Google map view of the neighborhood will give you a better sense of the area you are going to be living in.

In some countries, theft can be a problem even in safe neighborhoods. If this is true of the city you will be going to, ask what security your host has in place, for example, does the home have a security system or is there a safe in your room?

Be a considerate guest
Being a considerate guest matters, it is a great way to show your appreciate to your host. Our hosts list with because they want to provide quality service to you. Make sure to be considerate of the culture and beliefs when you travel to a new country and take care of the place as if it was your home.
